Plugins and Add-ons: Querying Ilias for a personal project?

Hello,

I was thinking about a personal software project which involes querying data from Ilias, meaning I would like to query all courses for which a specific user is signed up to. This project is not part of the Ilias system so I would like to query data "from outside".

I have very little knowlegde on how exactly Ilias works and according to my research there is not something like a REST API which I could use to query data from.

Is there any way to achieve my goal? I would really appreciate some hight level guidance or a point in the right direction for some documentation.
